Santoshi mata (माता संतोषी) is also worshipped along with Mata Lakshmi on Friday, it means both goddess are worshipped on same day. It is believed that keeping the fast of Maa Santoshi fulfill your all the wishes. According to Hindu religious beliefs, Mata Santoshi’s father is Lord Ganesha and mother is Riddhi-Siddhi (रिद्धि-सिद्धि). It is said that performing aarti after worshiping Maa Santoshi (श्री संतोषी की पूजा) brings auspicious results. During this worship, the mother’s aarti, worship and finally the story of mother is heard.

Santoshi Mata Vrat Puja Vidhi (संतोषी माता की पूजा की विधि)

• • Get up before sunrise and complete the cleaning of the house.
  • Takea bath frirst.
  • Establish a statue or picture of Mata Santoshi at holy place in the house (माता संतोषी की प्रतिमा या चित्र स्थापित करें).
  • Put the water filled an urn (कलश) in front of Mata Santoshi.
  • Place a bowl filled with jaggery (गुड़) and gram on top of the kalash (गुड़ व चना).
  • Light a ghee lamp in front of the mother (घी का दीपक जलाएं).
  • Keep jaggery and roasted gram in your hands while saying the fast story.
  • Offer Akshat (अक्षत), flowers, fragrant scent (सुगन्धित गंध), coconut, red clothes or chunri (चुनरी) to the mother.
  • Offer jaggery and gram to Mata Santoshi (गुड़ व चने का भोग लगाएँ).
  • Now start the katha with the saying of Santoshi Mata ki Jai.
  • After the completion of the story, perform aarti and offer prasad (प्रसाद).
  • The first prayer should be for Lord Ganesha, the father of Santoshi Mata and the mother Riddhi-Siddhi.

• • What not to do on the day of Santoshi Mata’s Vrat (संतोषी माता के व्रत के दिन क्या न करें )
  • We should not eat sour things and should not even touch it on the day of fast.
  • The family members should also not eat sour things (खट्टी चीजें) on Friday.

Santoshi Mata Vrat Udyapan Vidhi (संतोषी माता व्रत उद्यापन विधि)

• • The auspicious result (शुभ फल) of Santoshi Mata Vrat is obtained only after worshiping it properly on 16 Fridays.
  • After this, it is necessary to observe the fast.
  • For Udyapan, on the 16th Friday (16वें शुक्रवार) i.e. the last Friday, do worship, story and aarti like the rest of the days.
  • Feed kheer-puri-gram (खीर-पूरी-चने) to 8 children and send them off by giving dakshina (दक्षिणा) and banana prasad (केले का प्रसाद).
  • In the end, take your own food. On this day no one should eat sour (खट्टी चीजें) in the house, nor give anything sour to anyone.
