Followers of Parsi religion (पारसी धर्म) are using three type of the traditional calendar for liturgical purpose, all related to medieval Iranian calendar (ईरानी कैलेंडर) and other one is ultimately based on the Babylonian calendar (बेबीलोनियन कैलेंडर). The people of Paris are the original inhabitants of Persia, their religion is Zoroastrian. It was discovered by Zarathustra (जरथुस्त्र) in Faras itself. The Parsi New Year celebration is also famous as Jamshed-e-Navroz (जमशेद-ए-नौरोज). It is named after King Jamshed of Persia (फारस के राजा जमशेद), who founded the Zoroastrian calendar. The Parsi people started it 3000 years ago with the celebration of the Parsi New Year.

Just as according to the English calendar 2023, the new year is celebrated on the first date of January all over the world, in the Hindu Calendar 2023, the new year begins with the month of Chaitra, in the same way the new year of the Iranian calendar is celebrated by the people of the Parsi community. Parsi New Year (Shahanshahi), worldwide, people celebrate this festival on the first day of the first month of the Zoroastrian calendar. It falls on 21st March. People of different religions participate in the celebration of various festivals. However, the Parsi New Year remains associated only with those belonging to the Zoroastrian religion. There is a large number of Parsi community in Gujarat and Maharashtra where Navroz is celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm.
