In India, Guru Purnima 2023 (गुरु पूर्णिमा) is celebrated with great pomp and happiness. Importance of Guru Purnima (गुरु पूर्णिमा का महत्व)

Ved Vyas (वेद व्यास) was born on the full moon date of the month of Ashadha. He was the son of rushi Parashara (ऋषि पाराशर) and goddess Satyavati (देवी सत्यवती). Veda Vyasa is said to have classified (वर्गीकृत) the Vedas into four classes – Rigveda (ऋग्वेद), Yajurveda (यजुर्वेद), Samaveda (सामवेद) and Atharvaveda (अथर्ववेद). His legacy was carried forward by his disciples Paila (पैला), Vaishampayana (वैशम्पायन), Jaimini (जैमिनी) and Sumantu (सुमंतु). That’s why we are celebrating Ved Vyas jayanti as a Guru Purnima. There is a tradition of worshiping and honoring the Gurus on the day of Guru Purnima. Even in the scriptures, the Guru has been given a status above God. Guru helps to show us the true path of life. Born on this day, Ved Vyas ji spread knowledge in this world by composing texts and showed the path of truth.
